Did you know the big guy overseeing it all was used in 1949 to portray Santa Claus? That’s right, Big Tex has connections with the North Pole Superstar. Then in 1961, Big Tex “co-starred” with Ann Margaret in the locally-shot remake of the movie State Fair.
Dreaming of Africa? Check out ZuZu African Acrobats, they will bring the heat of the Sahara with daily performances on the all-new Mattress Firm Stage on the Esplanade. These talented performers show off their amazing acrobatic skills and take the limbo to a whole new level.
Fair Park’s African American Museum collections of African American folk art, is one of the largest collections in the country and not to be missed.
Mexico and various Latin American countries stir the soul. Mundo Latino is proud to present “Guitarras de Mexico” as its special exhibition this year with music, dance performances and expert demonstrations of handcrafted items and even guitar makers.
Don’t miss the educational and moving presentations given by several different Native American nations, as they share authentic Native American history and customs, including a full-size teepee for fair goers this year.
“Mamma Mia that’s a long way up!” The Texas Star Ferris wheel sailed in all the way from Italy. Interestingly, this 20 story dazzling array of lights circling the sky, arrived in 20 truckloads and is the largest in North America.
Beer connoisseurs, don’t head to Germany just yet. Texas craft beer festival will showcase local and international flavors from 70 different Texas breweries in the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium. How about cotton candy flavored ale? Sweet!
