How to Prepare for The First Year in High School

The simple thought of the first year of high school can be super scary. But don’t be afraid. We have some tips to make high school exciting and fun. We asked a group of recent graduates and sophomores for some tips on conquering your first year.

  1. First and most repeated tip. DO NOT GOSSIP.  Stay away from people who gossip. Don’t agree with gossip, don’t entertain gossip, don’t laugh at gossip. Just stay away from it. People won’t bring drama your way if they know you won’t entertain it. Gossip is so tempting, but it will come back and bite you in the end.

  2. Be authentic. Stay true to yourself so that you can attract people who are really like you.

  3. Popularity is relative.  They may not even be popular in real life. Don’t worry about popularity.  Some of the most popular people end up being the least productive citizens years later. Your status in highschool won’t win you any awards in life.

  4. Be mysterious and avoid social media! You’ll have less to stress about if fewer people know your business. So make them wonder.

  5. Focus on your future. Always think about what’s best for your future. Now is the time for you to make good choices and prepare for your future. Think of where you want to live in the future. Think of where you want to work or how you want to impact the world. Constantly keep that at the forefront of your mind.

Have your say!
