Three Female Del Frisco’s Sommeliers Compete in “Somm Wars” Finale in Dallas onThursday, October 27


DALLAS —(October 10, 2016) –Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House, one of the finest steak houses in Dallas, will host round three of “Somm Wars,” a three-part competition highlighting female sommeliers in the Del Frisco’s wine program. The competitive series will begin in New York on October 13, continue on to Chicago on October 21, and have its finale in Dallas onOctober 27, where the inaugural Somm Wars winner will be announced. On Thursday, October 27, each sommelier will create unique pairings for a four-course meal at the new Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in Dallas with a menu prepared by Executive Chef Tony Schwappach. Dallas-based Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Wine Director Chantel Daves holds a Sommelier Certification specializing in wine and food pairings, and she will battle it out against New York’s Crystal Horton and Chicago’s Amy Lutchen.


“I am honored to be participating in Del Frisco’s first Somm Wars competition alongside two other tremendous female competitors,” said Daves. “This will be a great way to showcase the brand’s extensive knowledge of wine, while having fun with attendees, guest judges and the sommeliers.”


The four-course dinner will start with Marinated Texas Sterling Lamb Lollipops with Citrus Bleu du Bocage and Red Jalapeño Glaze. The next course features an Olive Oil Poached Dover Sole and Sweet and Sour Eggplant, paired with Tandoori Marsala Yogurt Sauce and Crispy Prosciutto. Third Course is a Crispy Duck Confit with Golden Chantrelles and Wilted Dandelion Risotto, which includes Peppered Bacon, Charred Kumato Tomato and Buttered Broth. The main course features a Simply Seared A-7 Wagyu Beef paired with Foie Gras-Charred Leek Ravioli, Rissole Potatoes, and Mission Fig & Black Garlic Reduction. The dessert course features a Del Frisco’s Style Banana Split, which includes Caramelized Banana, Godiva Chocolate Covered Strawberries and Candied Pecans. With each respective course, guests will enjoy different wine pairings, curated by each participating sommelier, and they can vote for their favorite pairings.


The event will be judged by a panel of five local wine experts and enthusiasts, including: Paula Lambert, a world renown American cheesemaker, cookbook author, and entrepreneur; Neal Caldwell, Manager and Buyer for Pogo’s Wine and Spirits and wine judge for TEXSOMM and The Dallas Morning News Food and Wine Competition; Leigh Ann Adam, weekdays on-air personality from KVIL 103.7FM; John DeMers, author, food and wine writer, host of Delicious Mischief Food and Wine radio show and director of culinary hospitality and host instructor at Fischer and Wieser Culinary Adventure Cooking School; and Brooks Anderson, co-founder of Veritas Wine Room. The winner of Somm Wars will receive a trophy and bragging rights as Sommelier of the Year.
